Finally, Ebenezer Wopp’s musings, which had been gathering force as he worked, burst into speech. For a quiet man he became almost oratorical. Then he fell to soliloquizing audibly. “Betty, play us a toon,” requested Mr. Wopp who was very fond of music. “I’m so sorry our afternoon has been spoiled,” she apologized. “While we wait we might as well have a cup of tea.
